General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
In keeping with the national policy of elevating Sri Lanka into an Educational and Aviation Hub in the South Asian Region and with a view of expanding the aviation education in the country, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has introduced a new degree programme, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Aircraft Maintenance, from year 2018 onwards in collaboration with SriLankan Aviation College (SLAC) of Sri Lankan Airlines, which is the national carrier of the country.
SriLankan Aviation College, the training arm of SriLankan Airlines, expands it horizons with its new degree program in Aircraft Engineering through its partnership with the Kingston University, London. This program provides a valuable opportunity for professionals who have completed EASA part 66/IS 66 Cat B aircraft engineering course to top up the qualification to a BSc (Hons) in Aircraft Engineering. This degree also provides a pathway for aircraft maintenance engineers who are in possession of an EASA category B licence to gain academic recognition for the training undertaken to obtain the licence.
